Learning to breathe consciously and with awareness can be a valuable tool in helping to restore balance in the mind and body. Your breath is directly connected to your nervous system, learn to calm your body and move yourself into your rest and digest state.
Using your breath as a tool and learning these pranayama techniques helps alleviate fatigue, and calm down the anxious mind. “Prana” means vital force and “Ayama” is distribution of energy.
Because of our stressful lifestyle, we don’t maintain proper breathing patterns during our days/lives. Throughout the day we usually breath shallow using only 30 percent of our lung capacity. Conscious and rhythmic breathing is an excellent tool to stimulate the relaxation response which results in an overall sense of well-being.
Researchers have documented the benefits of a regular practice of deep breathing, which include reduced anxiety and depression, lower blood pressure, increased energy levels, muscle relaxation, and decreased feelings of stress.
Throughout this workshop we will move through:
- The science behind breathing (Physically, energetically and mentally)
- Step-by-step Instruction on Breathing Techniques
- Meditation using the breath
We will finish the evening with a light cup of chai and bliss ball.
Bio (About Jasmine):
Jasmine teaches to provide individuals with a greater sense of self, moving back into their bodies and bringing the mind, body and breath back into union. She teaches to not just help the physical but the mental and emotional. Jasmine loves people leaving classes feeling recharged and calm. Her practice has helped her to grow stronger both on and off the mat, and serves as a daily reminder to live each moment more mindfully.
Jasmine believes breath is one of life’s most vital tools and she explores this through her yoga classes and workshops.
