Autumn is the time to harvest and gather energy for the colder months ahead. A time of letting go. Autumn is the season where the hot summer days gradually become shorter, and the leaves begin to change as they fall to prepare for the coming winter. Autumn is a time to nurture and support our organs, fluid and blood, as the yin energy of autumn pushes the body energy in and down.
The two organs associated with Autumn are the Lung and Large Intestine. The Lungs breath in “the pure qi from the heavens” while the Large Intestine “let’s go” of the waste. This is a good analogy to live by in Autumn. Go through those draws, clear out that cupboard, sort out your relationships. Keep what is essential and let go of the rest.
Sadly the developed world has got out of balance with the seasons. The ‘On’ button is often permanently switched on. The use of un-natural lighting used to extend our productivity means our body’s clock gets confused and does not get to respond to nature’s call to rest. Most of us are overworking, it’s not our jobs we are often spending long hours on devices and social media. We are not giving ourselves enough ‘yin’ – receptive, quiet and passive time.
We invite you to join us at Riverdell as we provide a wonderful opportunity to go ‘with – yin’ with a half day retreat that will leave you feeling relaxed and nourished inside and out. Bookings essential.Please bring along your Yoga Mat (although one can be provided), wear loose comfortable clothing (layers are best) and a warm blanket.
Event facilitated by Jasmine Hornby – I first started my journey at Riverdell teaching the morning Vinyasa & Hatha Yoga. I now work collaboratively to coordinate the wonderful events in which are facilitated here, whilst teaching a Hatha and Yin yoga class. I teach to not just help the physical but the mental and emotional. I love people leaving my classes feeling recharged and calm. My practice has helped me grow stronger both on and off the mat. Yoga reminds me to live each moment more mindfully. I love being creative and bringing like minded individuals together. Through workshops, events and retreats.
